In this article, I will show you the best NetGear Routers that you can buy right now for large homes. I have picked these devices based on the 40 hours of testing done by me on each device and also based on the user reviews available for each one of them.
1. Netgear Nighthawk 12-stream – Best Netgear Router Overall
The first recommended router that you can get right now for your large home is the Netgear Nighthawk 12-stream. This device comes with inbuilt WiFi 6 support, which allows you to stream almost anything on the internet at a very high speed, with a maximum speed of 6Gbps.
Compatible with any Internet Service Provider up to 2Gbps in speed, including cable, satellite, fiber, DSL, and other technologies. Hence you can use this router with Cox, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
If you have used the Netgear routers previously then setup will be really easy for you. I was able to complete the setup using the same credentials that I was using previously. Within 10 minutes of performing a firmware update, the web page/app was fully functional.
Wireless coverage is superior to the other routers it’s far superior. And I was able to get great range even in the far end of my house.
Streaming and gaming simultaneously haven’t caused any problems for me because I’ve turned off QoS. Its specs make it an extremely capable router.
With Smart Connect, I’ve discovered that roaming and device allocation to other channels (e.g. 2.4 or 5Ghz) are both operating flawlessly.
Both the web website and the app reveal which devices are linked to which channels and allow you to switch them off if necessary. That’s a huge step forward, and it takes care of all the hard work for you, too. In total, I have 15 devices on the network, and it’s not even putting any strain on it.
Since this router has so much processing power, there is a small fan to help keep things cool. It hasn’t turned on yet, but it’s already a little warm inside.
- Easy to Install.
- Superior Range up to 3500sq ft to cover large homes.

The second best Netgear router that you can get for a large home is actually a router and modem combo. The NETGEAR Nighthawk Cable Modem (CAX80) router supports a range of up to 3500 square feet.

The CAX80 installation was not as simple as stated. I was unable to self-activate over the Web. While the Nighthawk Smartphone App may be used to configure WiFi, it cannot configure the modem.
I have been using Xfinity Internet for a very long time and I have tested with the device on their service. Their customer service is excellent if you get a chance to speak with a human being. They ran diagnostics and determined that the modem was operational. I was unable to connect to the internet, however.
They provided me with a direct line to Netgear, which I dialed for support. Within minutes, my modem-router was fully functional. They are astonishingly competent. The Wi-Fi signal is better and more stable than it was with my previous modem router.
When watching streaming video movies, there are no interruptions or buffering. Netgear’s advertising is precise and trustworthy. Likewise, the performance is excellent. I am quite satisfied with this router and modem combo.
