This article is based upon all the methods I used to fix this error message and if you are also facing the same issue then you can follow these methods.

Adding an E911 address to the line on which you want to use Wi-Fi calling will resolve the REG 99 error that appears when you try to turn on the feature. As a final check, make sure that VoIP services are not blocked on your router.

What Is Error REG 99?

If T-Mobile can’t find a valid E911 address in the number you’ll use to make a Wi-Fi call, you may receive this error message.

In the event of an emergency, having an E911 address helps dispatchers locate your location. Set up an E911 address before making calls on a network, and you won’t be able to do so without doing so.

On some phones, Wi-Fi calling prerequisites the most recent version of the phone’s operating system. To fix the problem, see if there are any new software updates available for your phone.

Follow the below steps to install updates on iOS:

  • Connect your phone to Wi-Fi by plugging it into a charger.
  • Go to General in the Settings menu.
  • Tap the software update option.
  • Take whatever action the update page asks you to take and wait patiently for the update to finish.

Follow the Below Steps to Install Software Update on Android:

  • Open the Settings app, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen.
  • Navigate to the System > System update page.
  • If there are any software updates available, follow the onscreen instructions and allow your phone to download and install them.

Once you’ve completed a system update, restart your phone and check to see if the error occurs again.

Reboot Router

If your router malfunctions, Wi-Fi calling may be lost. The phone can’t communicate with T-network, Mobile’s resulting in the REG 99 error. Try restarting your router to fix it.

Follow the below steps to properly restart your Router:

  • Shut down your router.
  • It must be unplugged from the wall to function properly.
  • Remove the router from the wall for at least 30 – 45 seconds before plugging it back in.
  • The router should now be operational.

Try reactivating Wi-Fi calling and see if the problem persists.

Reset The Router

Then try resetting your router to factory defaults if a restart didn’t work. Any custom settings on your router, including the network name and password, will be lost if you perform a factory reset. After the router resets, you can re-set the ports.

See your router’s manual for specific instructions. It’s usually possible to reset a modem from the router’s back. Instead, you may need to access your router’s configuration interface to perform a reset.

Contact T-Mobile Customer Service

Contact T-Mobile if these troubleshooting steps do not work for you. Wi-Fi calling can be reactivated remotely if it was previously disabled. It is also possible to raise the priority of your problem if it cannot be resolved over the phone.

Order A New T-Mobile Sim Card

According to some people I spoke with, T-Mobile required a new SIM card to use Wi-Fi calling. Due to the lack of Wi-Fi calling support on some older SIMs, this method can work.

Alternatively, you can contact T-Mobile customer service or visit one of their stores. You’ll need to activate the new SIM on T-network Mobile’s after receiving it.

Wrap Up

If you don’t have good cell coverage, Wi-Fi calling is a good option. But keep in mind that the best results require a better than average internet.

T-Mobile says your Wi-Fi needs to be at least 2 Mbps to work properly. If you’re having trouble making a Wi-Fi call, move closer to the router and put off any network-intensive tasks.
