The second method to fix this issue is to reset the spectrum Router to the factory default settings.

In most circumstances, doing the reset of the Spectrum router will resolve the issue of the Spectrum router blinking red or the appearance of steady red light.

The router’s settings will be restored to their factory default condition after it has been rebooted.

Method 3: Reset The Spectrum Router

Hold the reset button located on the back of the router/modem for approximately 20 seconds to force the router/modem to reboot.

The display lights should come on after the router has finished rebooting and has restored its configuration to its default state.

Check to see if the red light on the Spectrum router is still flashing; if it is, restart the router.

Even after resetting your Spectrum router, you may still experience problems. The following are a few options that may help you remedy the problem.

  • Make sure your router’s firmware is up-to-date
  • Change the location of your router.
  • Make sure there are no physical obstructions or other types of interference.

Method 4: Reboot Your Gateway Device Only

Gateway Device is your Modem that connects you to the ISP. Sometimes your Router might be working correctly but it might be the Modem that is causing this issue to occur.

Hence to restart your modem-router combo, also known as the Gateway device, perform the following steps:

Method 4: Reboot Your Gateway Device Only
  • Release the power cord to disconnect the gateway or modem and remove the batteries from the gateway or modem.
  • Wait more than one minute before reconnecting the devices back again.
  • Allow your modem to come to life by pausing for at least a couple of minutes after you have finished. When the Spectrum router is turned back on, the red light on the front should cease blinking. Slowly but steadily, the lights would come back on to signify that it was operational and connected to the internet.
  • Check your internet connection now to determine if it is still operational.

Method 5: Check All the Wired Connections

Look for signs of damage to the coaxial and network cables. Make sure they are securely and correctly attached.

For example, the metal pins on coaxial connectors are quite sensitive and should be straight and unbroken in most cases.

Method 5: Check All the Wired Connections

The Ethernet cable should also be connected to the yellow WAN/internet port on your router, with the other end of the wire connected to the Ethernet port on your modem.

So you can unplug and reconnect every cable just to make sure everything is working properly.

As most of the time, the loose wired connection can cause the Red Light to blink on your Spectrum Modem.
